About me
Darral Tse was born in Hong Kong and began playing the violin at the age of five. His early mentors include Zheng Shi-Sheng of Shanghai Music Conservatory, Asst. Prof. Huang Yi of Xin Hai Music Conservatory, and Prof. Li Yao-Ji of Central Music Conservatory Beijing. At only eight years old, Darral made his debut solo performance with the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra. Two years later, he was granted the Licentiate in Violin Performance (L.T.C.L.) by Trinity College of London.
In 2009, Darral was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Purcell School of Music in London, where he studied with Berent Korfker. He graduated with First Class Honours from the Universität der Künste Berlin as a protégé of Latica Honda-Rosenberg in 2018. Darral then attended the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid to study with the legendary pedagogue: Zakhar Bron. Over the years, he also received chamber music coaching from Heime Müller, Vineta Sareika, and Gregor Sigl—members of the Artemis Quartet.
Darral has built an incredibly successful musical career, winning coveted titles at renowned competitions around the globe. He was the Absolute 1st Prize Winner at both the Padovo International Competition (Italy, 2016) and the Eastern String Music Festival (China, 2012). He also won 3rd Prize at the Andrea Postacchini Violin Competition (Italy, 2017) and a Laureate of Excellence at the Alice Schönefeld Violin Competition (Hong Kong, 2013). Accolades from his former years include the Silver Prize at the National Chinese Violin Competition (2006), 1st Prize and the ‘Best Chinese Composition Interpretation’ Prize at the Guangdong Youth Violin Competition (2006), and 1st Prize across four categories at the HKSMSA Festival.
Darral took his talent onto the stages of many world-famous concert venues, including Berliner Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Auditiorio Nacional de Musica, Hong Kong City Hall, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. He performed the Prokofiev Sonata for Two Violins at Wigmore Hall, and later recorded this piece for BBC Radio 3. Darral also played Brahms Violin Concerto with Lipetsk Philharmonic in Russia, as well as Paganini Caprice for Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), on which he was interviewed by Nancy Loo.
He has been invited to and participated in many music festivals and masterclasses, such as Verbier Music Festival, Summit Music Festival, Santander Music Festival and Hong Kong Arts Festival. These were opportunities to collaborate and perform with some of the greatest musicians of our time—Sir Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eischenbach, Leonidas Kavakos, Yuja Wang, Vadim Repin, Boris Kuschnir, Aaron Rosand, Victor Danchenko.
Darral currently plays on an 1864 Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin, named ‘Le King’.
謝卓男出生於香港，是中國香港小提琴演奏家，五歲受李永純老師啟蒙習小提琴，並獲上海音院鄭石生教授悉心指導；後師從演奏家及星海音院副教授黃奕及中央音院林耀基教授。 八歲以獨奏者身份與香港泛亞交響樂團公開演出。十歲被倫敦聖三一學院授予小提琴演奏榮譽級文憑 (L.T.C.L Honour)。
2009年，謝氏獲全額獎學金，前往倫敦的普賽爾音樂學院就讀，跟隨皇家音樂學院教授 Berent Korfker；隨後他考進了德國柏林藝術大學，師從演奏及教育家 Latica Honda-Rosenberg，以至高榮譽畢業；及後再考獲全額獎學金入讀西班牙「皇后蘇菲亞天才音樂學院」，師承享譽盛名小提琴宗師扎克 · 布朗 (Zakhar Bron) 和尤里 · 沃爾金 (Yuri Volguin) 修讀藝術家文憑。在室內樂的領域上，更接受了著名弦樂四重奏組 - Artemis Quartet 的多年指導，導師包括: 海姆 · 穆勒 (Heime Müller)、維內塔 · 薩雷卡 (Vineta Sareika) 和格里高 · 西格爾 (Gregor Sigl)。
謝氏在音樂事業上取得了驕人的成就 ，曾於國際、國內及香港小提琴比賽屢次榮獲多項首獎；包括意大利帕多沃國際音樂比賽獲至尊一等獎、東方弦樂音樂節一等獎兼全場總冠軍兩項殊榮、意大利安德里亞·帕薩奇尼小提琴比賽第三名、愛麗絲·舍內費爾德小提琴比賽中獲卓越獎；於青島全國小提琴比賽中摘下銀獎、廣東省青少年小提琴比賽中奪得雙料冠軍 (協奏曲組別一等獎和最佳中國作品獎) ; 在香港 HKSMSA 音樂比賽中，囊括獨奏協奏曲組四個金獎。
謝氏的才華閃耀於世界著名音樂舞台，足跡遍佈歐洲及亞洲；包括德國柏林愛樂音樂大廳、倫敦威格莫音樂廳、倫敦皇家音樂廳、西班牙馬德里國家音樂廳、 倫敦聖馬丁音樂廳、香港大會堂 、香港文化中心、星海音樂學院音樂廳，湖南長沙施坦威音樂廳，珠海華髮中演大劇院 ，番禺沙灣文化中心等等。在倫敦威格莫爾廳演奏了普羅科菲耶夫小提琴二重奏奏鳴曲，獲得一致好評，隨後為 BBC Radio 3 廣播電台錄製了這首作品；另屢被邀請到意大利 於 Palazzo Albrizzi, Palazzo Zacco-Armeni , Abano Terme 成功舉行了專場獨奏會；亦在俄羅斯與利佩茨克愛樂樂團合作演奏了勃拉姆斯小提琴協奏曲。在香港電台 RTHK 邀請下，接受知名鋼琴家羅乃新女士訪問，於節目中演奏了帕格尼尼隨想曲。
謝氏受邀出席許多顶尖音樂節和大師班，曾在美国Summit音樂節、瑞士韋比爾音樂節、西班牙桑坦德音樂節、瑞士Lac Leman音樂節和香港藝術節中，與當今最偉大的音樂家們並肩合作和同台演出，當中有西蒙·拉特爵士、瓦萊里·吉吉耶夫、克里斯托弗·艾森巴赫、祖賓·梅塔、瓦迪姆·列賓、米莎·邁斯基、王羽佳
謝氏目前使用的是Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume 1864 小提琴，名為 “Le King”。
